Causes of Type 2 Diabetes
Diabetes is a disease that has taken over many millions of people worldwide and many more are carrying it without knowing they are diabetics. It is silent and attacks suddenly. Glucose and starches are processed in the blood stream to feed and give the body energy. Insulin is responsible of breaking up the glucose and starches and changing them into fuel for the cells.
Type 1 diabetes happens when the person’s body does not produce any insulin at all to process glucose and starches. Type 2 diabetes happens when the body does not produce enough insulin or the body simply ignores the insulin and does not process the food. Both of them are dangerous if they are not controlled but they are treated in different ways.
Overweight is an important cause of Type 2 diabetes. Overweight people tend to eat more than normal so their body supersaturates with glucose and starches that go unprocessed. This will eventually but definitely lead to diabetes Type 2 on the short or long run. It is important that people of any ages that are overweight change their eating habits dramatically. They must also start exercising, at first it is hard because of the time they have spent without exercise and because of their weight but starting slowly and increasing the amount of daily exercise they do will allow them not only to lose weight but to feel much better with themselves.
Exercise and healthy food stimulate metabolic rates into increasing. This will in turn start a faster and more constant process of calorie burning. Calories are cell fuel and this will stimulate the production of insulin. The body will reactivate itself and have more energy to do the things the person needs and wants to do. Even if diabetes has already settled in and been diagnosed exercise and healthy food will help in the process of controlling it along with the prescribed medication.
Several factors have been accused of causing diabetes; we say accused because it hasn’t been proved yet. Some of these include liver and/or pancreas diseases, weak or dysfunctional kidneys and even sugar has been accused of causing diabetes. The truth is that the only definite cause we have is genetics and this causes only diabetes Type1, Diabetes Type 2 is a combination of several factors that come together with the passing of time and age.
These combining factors which lead to diabetes Type 2 have all been mentioned above; overweight produces excessive glucose and starches in the blood stream which the body cannot deal with. Lack of exercise contributes in much the same manner, the lack of activity in which to burn the excessive glucose and starches allows these to remain in the bloodstream. Age is a third influencing factor because with time metabolism slows down, people tend to me more sedentary and move less and again the accumulation of starches and glucose in the blood stream continues.
People who are the right age should pay attention to these other matters. Do a little exercise, lose some weight, eat healthy foods and they should be okay. If their diabetes is caused by hormonal problems in their pancreas there is nothing they can do but take medication and live with the disease. Diabetes is a disease that when under control a person can perfectly live with it, if it uncontrolled or hasn’t been diagnosed at a late stage it can have serious consequences.
